ORG Scotland Launch

Open Rights Group is launching 'ORG Scotland' (their campaigning in Scotland) with their new Scotland Officer, Pol Clementsmith! They have organised a series of events in Scotland culminating in the biggest event in Edinburgh.

As part of this, we are building up the local Open Rights Group community in Edinburgh and would love you to join us. We will continue to expand our network of like-minded activists who care about digital rights; we're also open to anyone who is interested in the topic but isn't sure where to start.

It's an exciting time to be fighting for digital rights in Scotland and we want you to be a part of it.

Hear a talk from Wendy Grossman (journalist, activist and Open Rights Group Advisory Council):

Two years after Edward Snowden revealed the extent to which security services, primarily the NSA and GCHQ, are collecting and storing all our everyday communications, Britain has yet to mount a serious public debate on the subject. The US has passed the FREEDOM Act to end bulk collection, and technologists everywhere are gearing up to improve security on the Internet. As Scotland readies for further devolution, this talk discusses the Open Rights Group's efforts to advocate for privacy and digital rights.

And meet Pol Clementsmith, Open Rights Group's new Scotland Officer. Who will be heading up ORG's campaigning in Scotland. Come listen to the talk, and tell Pol what you think we should be working on.

Schedule:

6.45 - 7.00pm: Arrival
7.00 - 8.00pm : Talk and Q&A with Wendy Grossman
8.00 - 9.00pm: Refreshments

Please arrive by 7pm to be seated for the talk.
