Welcoming anyone involved or working in technology.
TechMeetup is a monthly excuse for developers and the tech community around Scotland to meet up and learn new stuff from each other. No name badges, no sales pitches, just informative presentations from your peers and a chance to meet some of the tech community around you.
TechMeetup Edinburgh is meeting on Wednesday 10th October 2018 at the normal time of 6:30pm at our new venue which is CodeBase at 38 Castle Terrace, EH3 9DZ. Here's a map to the venue: https://goo.gl/maps/vGxnZeziwdJ2 .
You need to enter from the Castle Terrace entrance. Someone will be on-hand at reception to let you in.
This month we have talks from:
Jim Newbery - Surviving the Single Page App-ocalypse
What works, what doesn't, some pitfalls to avoid and some suggestions to ensure an app works well for customers
Alistair Hann - Building an Open Health Platform
It is hard to build apps that improve care, because health data are typically in many proprietary silos corresponding to different geographies and different functions (e.g. GP, hospital, social care). Open platforms turn the tables, freeing up the data and making it easier for health systems and start-ups to build applications, and to produce data sets for clinical research. I will talk about how such a platform can be built, and the kinds of applications you can then start building on it.
There's (free) drinks, pizza, snacks and plenty of time around the talks to catch up on the latest tech news and gossip.
As always, the event is free and no sign-up is necessary.
Big thanks to our sponsors: Skyscanner, Cultivate and Informatics Ventures.
TechMeetup is a community event, so if you want to speak or help out in some way please email me or speak to one of the organisers at the event.
See you on Wednesday! Remember we have moved to CodeBase from this month onward.
