#TrollPatrol by Amnesty International

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A WOMEN ONLY EVENT. IF YOU WISH TO HOLD A MIXED EVENT THEN PLEASE GET IN TOUCH FOR A GUIDE.

Social media platforms, especially for women and marginalized groups, are a critical space for individuals to exercise the right to freedom of expression. Online violence and abuse are a direct threat to this freedom of expression.

For the next four weeks, Amnesty is asking volunteer decoders to participate in our online research. This exciting new project involves people across the world categorising tweets, with a view to developing an algorithm that might identify violent and / or abusive content on Twitter.

You can register here https://decoders.amnesty.org/ and start categorising immediately.

But at Amnesty Scotland, we thought it would be a good idea to hold a 'safe space' event where women could get together to analyse tweets, check in with each other about content, and suport each other - because this could involve seeing harmful and triggering content.

From 11am until 4pm on Saturday 28th April, come along and drop in to our #TrollPatrol collective. You can stay for as long or as little as you like!

Decoders is people power at its best. In our most recent project our digital activists took on oil giants Shell and Eni and exposed the scale of oil pollution in the Niger Delta. As a direct result of their work, Amnesty International published a compelling report and is now asking the Nigerian government to re-open investigations into 89 oil spills.

Join us for this next project!
