Digital Media Launchpad
CodeBase is proud to announce that it has partnered with Innovate UK to invest £1m in Edinburgh's digital media cluster
Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, and CodeBase, the UK’s largest tech incubator have announced a partnership which will see up to £1 million in funding invested in Edinburgh’s burgeoning digital media sector. The funding is being put in place to draw further investment and people into the city region, encouraging collaboration and networking to strengthen the cluster.
The deadline for video submissions has now passed. Check back here for more information.
CodeBase is working with Creative Edinburgh and Festivals Edinburgh to ensure that the ‘Launchpad’ competition makes the most of the city’s dynamic ecosystem. Edinburgh is thought to be home to around 2,500 businesses working in digital media, employing over 40,000 people and contributing over £800 million to the Scottish economy.
The Launchpad will offer funding to micro and small businesses wishing to undertake innovative industrial research into digital media. The competition plans to stimulate Edinburgh’s existing digital media hotspot by enabling companies to reach commercial success more rapidly and to greater effect. The partnership is seeking projects that may be too risky for companies to take forward, involve innovative areas and where the majority of the activities are carried out in Edinburgh.
With estimated funding per project in the region of £100,000, an integral part of Launchpad is the provision of support to help applicants raise additional external finance while successful applicants will also participate in a programme of business support and mentoring that will run alongside the funding.
