CodeBase Events Space, 38 Castle Terrace
Thursday 8.30 - 5pm, Friday 8.30- 11pm, Saturday 8.30 - 5pm
Our objective is to give people interested in REST, Hypermedia APIs, crafting web service APIs, or any related topics a chance to get together in an informal setting to share ideas, trade stories, and show examples of current work.
Whether you're totally new to REST and it's architectural style or you're a veteran of the API space, you'd be very welcome to join us for three days in Edinburgh - no matter what your experience or what language you use. We're all here to teach and learn from each other.
Day one will feature a hackathon where attendees can get some hands on experience working with a small team to product a real, working demo of Hypermedia in action. We’ll finish up after a day of hacking with a few drinks in bars around Edinburgh and perhaps a whisky tasting somewhere on the Royal Mile. We’re also (weather permitting) hoping to do a bit of a walk up to the top of Arthur’s Seat for those that are interested!
Day two is what we call ‘Stack day’. Giving attendees the opportunity to present really great tools they’re working with and have helped them work with API’s and REST. We’ll look at kicking off a few of the lightning talks towards the end of the day. Day two also features a RESTFest tradition of an evening keynote, this time by Mike Kelly (the inventor of HAL) and we’re hoping to feature a board games night.
Day three is the main event. The (un)conference day - featuring lightning talks from all those who attend. They can be from anything from a Q&A session, to a show and tell from the hack day or a demo of how you have solved an interesting problem in the API space. They don’t even have to be about API’s (though the majority will be).
We’ll round off the weekend with an after party somewhere in the city (location still tbd!)
