Following MisinfoCon summits in Boston, London, Kyiv and Washington DC, Hacks/Hackers Scotland are teaming up with Mozilla to offer a full-day unconference around misinformation and ‘information disorder’.
Through lightning talks, workshops and group discussions, we will explore the interrelated issues of trust, media/data literacy, and (both!) the threat and potential of technology (bots, algorithms, as well as verification and fact-checking tools) in relation to information in the public sphere.
We will address misinformation in all its forms in search of practical solutions to the phenomenon that plagues public discourse and threatens democratic processes across the globe.
We invite experts from news organisations, the technology sector, education, research and academia to join us as we explore issues, solutions and approaches to misinformation in a Scottish context.
