MRM - Front End Software Engineer

Front End Software Engineer

Who We Are

MRM builds innovative marketing technology solutions that are used by some of the world’s biggest brands. Our products allow salespeople and customers to quickly and easily create customisable marketing materials that combine the strength of global marketing campaigns with a message that is on-brand and locally relevant.

We occupy a unique position as an independently owned family business with global corporate customers such as Carlsberg, Diageo, Molson Coors, Bacardi, L’Oreal and Swarovski.

Since 2001, MRM have been successful by taking a long term customer focused approach towards building a sustainable business with a culture that encourages responsibility, honesty and continuous improvement.

Our Edinburgh based development team has been established recently and combines a start up feel with a large and growing client base. Every member of our small and dynamic team enjoys what they do, and takes pride in staying up to date with the latest technologies.

What We Are Doing

We are currently developing a new cloud based SAAS platform that will enable the business to rapidly scale on an international basis. We’re using the latest tech to create best-in-class web and iPad applications for the sales reps in the alcoholic drinks industry.

Where We Are

Our development team is based in CodeBase, at the heart of the Edinburgh tech scene. Our head office is based in Alloa, where we provide customer service and produce the physical marketing materials that are created using our software products.

Who You Are

You are a talented and passionate developer – you love what you do. You are willing to take a lead on how our customers interact with our software and explore options on how we can make their lives easier.

You enjoy working within a small team of like-minded developers. You find it easy to communicate with customers, colleagues and product owners. You are not afraid to voice your opinion and appreciate the input of others. You proactively search for ways to improve existing features and help create specifications for what we may need for the future. Although you focus primarily on the front end, you have an understanding of how your work affects the whole stack and are not afraid to drill down into the back-end.

Your Technical Skills

Must have:

  • HTML/CSS (advanced)
  • Modern ES6+ Javascript/Node (intermediate)
  • Commercial experience as a developer
  • Design/UX experience (this doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve worked in a pure design role)
  • Ability to accurately translate ideas/mockups/wireframes to products.
  • Knowledge of modern tooling for single page applications (Webpack, Yarn, Babel etc) and genuine interest to keep this knowledge up to date.
  • The ability to engage effectively with other developers, customers and the product owner.

Nice to have (it’s an advantage if you have skills in one or two of these, but not essential):

  • Experience with a software package for wireframe design/prototyping (Photoshop/Sketch/other)
  • React/Redux
  • Unit Testing
  • iOS native development: Swift/Objective C
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration/DevOps approaches
