Front End Software Engineer

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to work with us building slick, smart web applications for clients like Sony and Tesco Bank.


As a Frontend Software Engineer you will:

·           Write well-structured, beautiful, clean code and follow our coding standards.

·           Assist in designing systems and applications

·           Design and develop smart ways of storing, retrieving and presenting complex data

·           Support our automated testing team to test the quality of your code

·           Care about your craft, be aware of new technologies and be keen to review and explore them when appropriate

·           Feed your opinions, backed by data and investigation, to our design forum and our wider team

·           Be an active, contributing part of an agile development team

·           Define your career path and be given the opportunity to grow and learn


You need to be skilled at:

·           Writing great code using reactive JavaScript frameworks -  VueJS, ReactJS

·           Familiar with JavaScript automation and build tools - Webpack, Gulp, Browserify

·           We support a previous generation of apps that use a PHP framework (Yii2); you’ll be expected to support that code too and help to port it to JavaScript framework.

·           Experienced with build tools like Bower and Gulp and CSS pre-processors like LESS

·           Experienced with data visualization libraries like d3.js

·           Data store design; SQL programming

·           Experience working with RESTful and real-time APIs

·           Microservice design and development; when they should be used and when not; JSON and XML for message exchange

·           Knowledge of event-driven architecture and queueing services

·           Applying common user-centred design principles and common user interface patterns

·           Common application architectures; version control

·           Integrating application architectures with relational and non-relational databases

·           Experience of a continuous deployment environment, with source control and managed releases

·           Thorough understanding of cross-browser and cross-device interoperability and feature support

·           A committed focus on the user, whether through improving usability, accessibility or front-end performance

·           Communicating with others in a supportive, empathetic and honest fashion
