LIVE IT – Software Developer (Entry level, Python & JavaScript)

  • CodeBase Edinburgh 38 Castle Terrace Edinburgh, Scotland, EH3 9DZ United Kingdom (map)

Software Developer (Entry level, Python & JavaScript)

LIVE IT is looking for new developers to join our team in Edinburgh. Our full-service ticketing platform is trusted by festivals and event professionals around the world and we are looking for developers to help us grow and expand into new markets.

When you start, you’ll build familiarity with our platform through bug fixes, regression tests and small refactoring tasks, but quickly move on to projects where you can experience the full lifecycle from specification through to deployment and maintenance. For example, you might create a microservice to support a new feature, or rebuild server-side functionality to operate entirely client-side.

We use a mentoring approach so you always have someone who will help you get up to speed, be a sounding board for your ideas and help you develop the skills you wish to grow.

We are looking for people with a curious mindset who are pragmatic problem solvers. We use Python and JavaScript, so we’d like to see evidence that you are comfortable tackling everyday programming problems in one or both of these languages. You should have an awareness of user experience and what constitutes accessible user interface design.

We are a small collaborative team based in CodeBase, right next to Edinburgh Castle. Everyone is encouraged to share their ideas and everyone is given the support to succeed.

We operate in sprints where the team gets together to discuss and assign tasks. We take turns picking first, so you’ll get to choose tasks that interest you and have the opportunity to branch out. This is an office-based role, but you will have the autonomy to work flexibly (and we usually all work from home on Fridays).

We offer a great salary, share options and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays on top. There’s a staff perks scheme and you can join us for a free team lunch once a week. On joining, you’ll get a generous equipment budget for your laptop and any other kit you might need.

This is an entry level role, so we welcome applications from all backgrounds, including recent graduates and those changing career or returning to work. A degree in computer science or a related field is an advantage, but only one of many things we look for. To apply, please send your CV to

Unfortunately we are not offering visa sponsorship for this role, so you will need the right to work in the UK.
