ShareIn is an exciting Edinburgh fintech start-up that specialises in crowdfunding technology solutions. We provide tools that firms can use to run their own investment crowdfunding platform. Our clients span a range of sectors, from funding pioneering businesses that install life-changing solar systems in Sub-Saharan Africa to property developments in the UK.

We have developed our own payment system, ShareIn Pay and to that end our Compliance team are looking to hire a Reconciliation Assistant, reporting to the Head of Compliance, to reconcile bank accounts on a daily basis and process transactions. This is the first role of this kind in ShareIn so there is the potential to grow and develop alongside the company.

What would you be doing?

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate bank reconciliations on a daily basis

  • Ensure that internal ledgers are reconciled in a timely fashion

  • Process transactions in our back office tool as required

  • Maintain records of discrepancies and seek to resolve these promptly. This may include liaison with ShareIn clients

  • Support record-keeping to evidence completion of reconciliations

  • Support documentation and development of ShareIn reconciliation procedures

  • Monitor efficiency of all areas within control of the jobholder and to seek continually to improve processes

What attributes will be necessary to be successful and have fun in this role?

Having experience within the financial services sector is not the be all and end for us here at ShareIn but we’re looking for the following attributes and experience to fulfil this role:

  • Fastidiousness: Really organized, capable of follow through -- you absolutely must have a keen and well-developed attention to detail

  • Demonstrable experience working within a finance position, or numerically focused admin position with some reconciliation experience in the bag already.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, specifically Excel to intermediate level (Pivot tables, formula etc)

  • Analytical thinking, you see a problem and you want to work through and offer solutions.

  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated: This is a new role for ShareIn and there will be times when we look to you for guidance on how to handle the unexpected things that come up.

  • Curiosity: A desire to learn about the alternative finance sector in the UK and beyond

  • Flexibility: Things move quickly at a start-up, and your tasks may evolve – we think that’s a good thing!

  • A can-do attitude: You ask if you don’t understand something; muck in and help the team, even if it’s not your job; and you always deliver on a promise
