Senior Software Engineer - Mobile
It is an exciting time to work for Criton as we work towards delivering our new guest centric apps to hotels. These apps provide guests with information about the hotel and local attractions and aggregate traditionally isolated hotel technology to streamline the guest journey before, during and after the stay. As a business we’re aiming to massively influence the impact guest facing technology can have within the hospitality sector, across the globe.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Chief Technology Officer to oversee our Product Delivery team who are building the next generation of our mobile apps. You will work closely with the entire delivery team and across the wider business to create the best possible solution for our customers and end-users.

Role & Responsibilities
Criton works in project-based sprints in small, cross platform squads. We’re still a relatively small company, with around 14 people in the engineering team (out of 25 people in total) - but we have big ambitions: aiming to shape how technology is used within the hospitality sector, across the globe. There are many interesting challenges ahead. As a Senior Software Engineer here you will work closely with our Product Owners and all members of the delivery team to create the best possible solution for our customers and end-users. We run regular sessions with all the teams, presentations and demos to ensure everyone is well informed. You’ll get the chance to learn about everything from how hotels work to effective communication.
You will get to work with a lot of exciting modern technology and your role will involve:
Applying your knowledge of native mobile development to help design and create beautiful, reliable mobile experiences
Implementing user stories and agreed features through clean, maintainable code
Writing unit tests for every piece of code produced
Participating in refinement of user stories and definition of acceptance criteria
Participating in estimation, prioritisation, and planning of tasks from the product backlog
Participating in all Scrum ceremonies.
What we are looking for
Experience developing native applications in a similar senior role using Objective-C, Swift or Java
Commercial experience with cross platform mobile technologies such as Xamarin or Flutter
Familiar with app distribution processes (App Store and/or Google Play Store)
Writing automated tests, Test-driven development
Familiar with using Restful APIs
Ability to work collaboratively with the rest of the product development team to discuss and define requirements
Version control - Git, Bitbucket or Github
Proactive and versatile
Willingness to take ownership and be accountable for one’s work
Ability and willingness to continuously keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and rapidly learn new technologies
Aspire to engineering excellence – be able to write scalable, maintainable, efficient, and beautiful code

Currently, the product delivery team are focused on a huge project for one of London’s most famous landmarks, now becoming a hotel. In the pipeline they will be working on creating an exciting new product that aims to be the go-to hotel and destination app for business travellers.

We are based in Codebase, Edinburgh’s best-known tech incubator and offer a relaxed and trusting culture in collaborative working environment. We offer competitive salaries based on skills and experience, with some additional benefits. Salary on offer is up to £50,000 depending upon experience.
Our interview process typically consists of an initial phone screen, a coding assignment, an interview with the Head of Engineering and a final stage with our CEO, Julie (face to face or via hangout). We can’t promise not to ask you any brain teasers but we won’t ask you anything too difficult.
