Job Description:

CodeClan’s Comms/Copy Specialist is a new role as we are growing so much we need a dedicated function to manage all of CodeClan’s comms/copy channels.

The position is to work with the marketing team based in Edinburgh but also be required to travel to Glasgow on a monthly basis, be involved in events and conferences and to support the CEO when necessary. This role will be responsible for developing and executing best practice social comms strategies in order to maximise engagement.

This includes building and maintaining a media calendar, developing regularly scheduled media content, leading national marketing campaigns and developing a social network and analysing and reporting on campaign results.

This role will work with all departments throughout the business and will engage with people at all levels of seniority.

Key Tasks

Key Duties/Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive communications strategy

  • Lead the organisation in all aspects of PR, media relations and communications

  • Ensure consistent delivery of CodeClan’s brand, core messages and values across all channels, creating a ‘culture of communication’

  • Specification, creation and management of central repository of key communications materials

  • Ensure quality control and consistency of all information and materials released

  • Identify potential internal and external communication opportunities and threats, and proactively identify strategies to manage these

  • Oversee the development of CodeClan’s’ publications and publicity materials to ensure consistency and integrity of the organisation’s brand and values

  • Systematically review and develop all aspects of marketing and communications strategy, monitor results and measure effectiveness

  • Work closely with all teams to ensure all opportunities for communication are identified, prioritised and executed across appropriate channels

  • Manage all public and media relations activities

  • Ensure public listings and review sites are tracked and accurate

  • Identify key events and opportunities for CodeClan to establish thought leadership

Person Specification


Relevant Degree, or extensive industry experience in marketing, communications and PR/media relations, preferably within a digital technology ecosystem.
