A community bringing together those working in medtech and healthtech in the Edinburgh region.
Edinburgh Medtech Forums is a community bringing together those working in medtech and healthtech in the Edinburgh region. It will allow participants to learn, grow and network together, creating a thriving hub of startup thinking in the medtech sphere. The forums will include:
In-person events and meetups that bring people together, build relationships, enhance learning and create peer networks
Online tools that facilitate sharing and collaboration
New content creation designed for the community
Access to other Medtech and healthtech programmes in the city and in the wider medtech community
The Medtech Forum brings together people in Edinburgh working across medtech and healthtech, whether they are working in the NHS, or in private healthcare, or people currently working on or interested in medtech startups.
All you need to do to join is fill in the application form and we’ll be in touch regarding what happens next.
All the events will be taking place in Edinburgh, rotating through a number of medtech and healthtech related locations. Our next event is on the 27th March 2024, from 08.30-11.30am, in the Edinburgh CodeBase event space.
Technology within healthcare has a broad scope but we will focus on three core areas which encapsulate our definition of medtech:
Diagnosis, patient care, treatment, and improvement of a person’s health. Mostly used in hospitals; oriented toward diagnosing and treatment vs prevention (typically regulated): equipment, devices, machines, software, and tools
Using cutting-edge techniques from data-driven tech to transform drug discovery and patient care. This interface of biology and technology is often referred to as “techbio".
Improving better delivery, payment, and/or consumption of care: software, databases, applications, mobile devices, and wearables
We will not consider pharma or biotech businesses.
Participating in The Medtech Forum will allow you to meet and work with others in the community, and to help shape the future of Medtech in Edinburgh.
The community is designed for those at any stage of the startup journey, from idea to those in business, to those looking to learn about new innovation. The idea is to bring together those keen to tackle Edinburgh’s medical challenges and create a leading community for the Medtech sphere.
The Medtech Forum is a partnership between The City of Edinburgh Council and CodeBase Ltd. This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The overarching objective is to build pride in place and increase life chances. Investment priorities include: community and place; supporting local business; and people and skills.
