About this event

What is it?

The entrepreneurial contributions of Black Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) founders in Scotland are often under-represented, and CodeBase and Techscaler are delighted to be working in partnership with Radiant and Brighter. Through this partnership, we are delivering empowering events and showcasing BIPOC founders and businesses.

This month we are thrilled to welcome Consolata Ogbebor, Founder at Afro Bite, to CodeBase to discuss how Black Founders can create and grow their businesses sustainably.

We are delighted that refreshments will be supplied by Heart of Africa.

What will I learn?

This event is an opportunity to hear directly from one of Scotland's leading Black Founders as she describes her journey through the Scottish business ecosystem.

Where and when is this taking place?

This event is taking place at CodeBase Edinburgh 37a Castle Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2EL on Wednesday 31st January 2024 from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

Who will be there?

This event is open to any BIPOC founders with innovative ideas, BIPOC individuals exploring business opportunities, or ecosystem builders seeking insights into fostering inclusive spaces and sustaining BIPOC talent and innovation.

What are these events?

Radiant and Brighter's mission is to unlock the potential within the migrant population and racialised communities in Scotland ensuring the inclusivity of untapped talents and skills both economically and socially. Founded on real life experience and over 15 years of dedicated work, Radiant and Brighter offer a proven and successful suite of services and programs in enterprise support, antiracism, ethnicity and culture, supporting companies to address structural and systemic barriers.

This series of events aims to provide a supportive space for Black Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) founders. It is a platform for inspiration, knowledge sharing and navigating Scotland's business structures. Our sessions foster connections and pathways for founders to engage with Techscaler and the wider business ecosystem. The space also offers the opportunity to hear from BIPOC guest speakers who share invaluable insights and experiences from their endeavours in Scotland and beyond.

About Radiant and Brighter Community Interest Company

Radiant and Brighter Community Interest Company was set up to unlock potential within racialised communities and the migrant population in Scotland ensuring ‘New Scots’ are better able to use their talents and skills, in order to contribute economically and socially. The company offers a proven and successful suite of services in antiracism, intercultural competence and ethnicity supporting businesses and organisations to better understand and address systemic barriers to equity. Crucially, based on years of lived experience and work with minoritised communities, programs are designed to support organisations to understand what they need to put in place in order to deliver enhanced customer and staff experience for those in their workspaces and communities. Radiant and Brighter is partnering with CodeBase to develop an antiracism approach.

Consolata Ogbebor

Consolata Ogbebor is the founder of Afro Bite which was established at her home in 2019 before she moved into a takeaway shop. Since then she has moved to bigger premises which better accommodate the business as it has significantly grown to employ more staff and increase its delivery. Graduating as an accountant she first worked in the finance industry. After 2 years she decided to set up her own company due to family commitments. As a mother of two, Consolata continues to give back, volunteering in the third sector looking after children in an organisation which she helped establish before she set up her own business.
