CodeBase Edinburgh Meetup - Ecosystems
Kindly sponsored by Creative Informatics
Details
Hi! We're going to be running a series of Meetups in 2020 that are all about bringing together the tech community and learning best practice in building startups.
Our first meetup will be on the 28th of January, and the topic will be ecosystems. What makes a startup ecosystem? Entrepreneurs, investors, academia, and government, all play their part - but can you just combine all these things in a city with decent infrastructure and expect a startup scene to thrive? How can entrepreneurs leverage an ecosystem to give their company the best chance of success? And should we all be thinking more widely about what an "ecosystem" actually is?
Who better to talk about such things than Natalie Novick from tech.eu who spends her life (not to mention a PhD) investigating what makes ecosystems around the world tick. This talk will be followed by a panel chaired by Natalie featuring:
Briana Pegado, Director of Creative Edinburgh. Briana has been a key player in building the Edinburgh creative and tech ecosystem
Matt Farrugia, Founder of Bemo. Matt is a Founder and Investor in several Edinburgh tech businesses. His podcast Startupification recently focused on the topic of ecosystems
Abhishek Lahoti, Business Development & Partnerships at Dropbox. Abhishek will be giving us the scale-up view of how companies that grow rapidly from startup to small enterprise create and maintain a collaborative and efficient ecosystem
