September Wrap-up / What's on in October

What a month we’ve had at CodeBase Stirling!

From reopening to the public at the beginning of the month to our Fourth Birthday Social at the end, it’s been a whole lot of fun.  And our (not-so) new team have now been here for five weeks - can you believe it? The members of said team certainly can’t! Let’s take a brief trip down memory lane and reminisce about some of the most exciting stuff that’s happened in September before turning to the future and what’s ahead.

First of all, have you been keeping up with the success stories we’ve been sharing all month over on our Instagram? If you want a dose of techie inspiration, check it out - we’ve got high school students, event-attendees turned employees, startups, scaleups, and everything in between. We’re so proud of the amazing community here at CodeBase Stirling, so our birthday present to ourselves this month was celebrating on our socials all the amazing things they’ve achieved.

On September 14th, we sent out our monthly newsletter. Missed it? Don’t worry, you can still read it right here! In it, we wrote about how the CodeBase Stirling adventure began, and how it’s going now; some upcoming events; and linked to just a few of the many job opportunities available from our tenant companies. (You can view those, and lots more, on the Jobs page!) If you’d like to be the first to know when next month’s newsletter goes out, you can sign up here.

That weekend, we took part in Doors Open Day! Our intrepid Head of Stirling, Barry, gave six tours over the two days to interested members of the public, from the grand marble staircase to the iron safe turned into our kitchen that now protects a resource even more valuable than gold…lunch. If you missed out, but still fancy a nosy around the building, you can check out this Instagram reel for a mini tour!

And then, something we’d been looking forward to all month…our Fourth Birthday Social! On Friday the 24th, we had a celebration with drinks, pizza, and a startup themed playlist (think anything from Start Me Up by the Rolling Stones to Work It by Missy Elliot). If you’d like to see some photos you can check them out here, and in our expert opinions, we can officially confirm it was a good time!

What’s coming up?

There’s a lot coming up for the upcoming month, including even more in-person events, which we could not be more excited about! Right at the beginning of the month, on Wednesday October 6th, we have the return of in-person Unfiltered. Running from 8:30 to 10:00, we’ll be providing hot drinks, breakfast-y bites, and free hotdesking for any attendees who want to stay and work for the day. Register here if you’re interested! Oh, and just if you were wondering, Unfiltered is a free event, online or in-person.

If you can’t make it to the October 6th Unfiltered, never fear! There’s another online Unfiltered just the week after for anyone further afield, or for anyone not quite ready to return to in-person events (we get it!). This one is on the 13th, and you can register here.

On the 14th, CodeBase Stirling will have a stand at the Stirling Science Festival at the Albert Halls in Stirling, and will be showing off some of Marty the Robot’s greatest hits - check out a sneak peek here. Feel free to come and say hi if you’re in the area!

On Wednesday the 27th, we are collaborating with Pecha Kucha Stirling for the return of the first Pecha Kucha night since January 2020! This night’s theme is Turning Points. If you’d like more information on the Pecha Kucha format, check out the Pecha Kucha website, and if you’d like to attend the event, more information and tickets can be found here!

And last but certainly not least, on Thursday 28th October we’re celebrating the return of CodeBase Stirling’s FAMOUS Hallowe’en Social. The party will take place from 5pm to 6pm, and we can confirm there will be nightmarish nibbles, blood-curdling beverages, petrifying playlists, and overall a whole lot of spooky fun. Register here!

That’s all, folks!

Thanks for reading this month’s wrap-up. We hope you found it enjoyable and informative, and are looking forward to all the cool stuff we have planned for the future. If you’ve made it this far, why not check out the the Birthday Social playlist and let us know what you think?
