Programmes

CodeBase promotes and facilitates collaboration in tech innovation by working with startups, scaleups, corporates, governments, academia, investors and the third sector.

We deliver programmes across industry verticals such as law, health and energy, for businesses looking to innovate through collaboration with startups and tech businesses in their sectors, as well as Governments and enterprise organisations looking for support in delivering large scale programmes.

 

Current Programmes

 

Techscaler

Techscaler is the Scottish Government’s tech startup support programme, established to strengthen the country’s tech sector and encourage entrepreneurship, delivering on key priorities outlined in the Scottish Tech Ecosystem Review (STER) report, and in the National Strategy for Economic Transformation (NSET).

The programme delivers education, mentorship, and community across Scotland.

XR Accelerator

In partnership with XR Network+, CodeBase will deliver a free part-time programme for people working in extended reality (XR) and virtual production (VP) technologies at UK universities.

The programme is open to early to mid-career academic researchers, late-stage PhD students, and research-engaged technicians. It provides a unique opportunity for participants to develop entrepreneurial skills, explore what goes into creating a tech product business and apply their research in commercial contexts.

 

AgriTech Bridge

Delivered in collaboration with Barclays Eagle Labs and funded by the UK Government, AgriTech Bridge is a programme that facilitates invaluable networking opportunities, enabling prominent industry giants to exchange insights and forge connections with both their industry peers and emerging startups within the agritech sector.

Focused on the pivotal challenge of digitising the food supply chain, this program empowers participating firms to learn, collaborate, and capitalise on the transformative potential of agritech.

 

Sustainability Bridge

Delivered in collaboration with Barclays Eagle Labs and funded by the UK Government, Sustainability Bridge unites prominent established businesses and up-and-coming startups working within the environment sector in the UK.

It provides a platform for the exchange of cutting-edge ideas, empowering participants to collaboratively tackle the pressing environmental challenges and develop energy-efficient and sustainable solutions to reach net zero by 2050.

 

ClimateTech Community

Delivered in partnership with Scottish Enterprise, the ClimateTech Community is designed to foster communication, collaboration, and sharing among ClimateTech enthusiasts in Scotland.

The aim of the community is to create a thriving ClimateTech ecosystem in Scotland, and support the delivery of a just transition to net zero by 2045.

 

Edinburgh Medtech Forums

The Edinburgh Medtech Forums is a partnership with The City of Edinburgh Council and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The aim of the community is to bring together those working in medtech and healthtech in the Edinburgh region, building pride in place and increasing life chances.

LawtechUK

Programme of activities which showcase the UK as a leading place for lawtech innovation delivered in partnership with Legal Geek.

The consortium will grow the lawtech community across the UK, raise the quality of startups, increase private investment, facilitate the exchange of information between service providers and lawtech businesses, and generate industry-level views that shape the UK’s lawtech agenda.

 

Care and HealthTech Bridge

Delivered in collaboration with Barclays Eagle Labs and funded by the UK Government, HealthTech Bridge brings together some of the UK’s leading healthtech corporations, industry experts, and most promising startups.

Designed to encourage collaborative efforts and foster innovation among corporates and startups, this programme hopes to accelerate innovation in the care sector and deliver solutions to help healthy ageing.

 

Cyber Bridge

Delivered in collaboration with Barclays Eagle Labs and funded by the UK Government, Cyber Bridge brings together the most prominent firms, leading businesses, and promising startups in the UK to accelerate cyber security innovation.

The programme fosters a vibrant ecosystem where members can share their wealth of experience and knowledge, forge meaningful connections, and collaboratively address the most pressing challenges within the cyber security sector.

 

Edinburgh Greentech Futures

The Edinburgh Greentech Futures is a project delivered in collaboration with The City of Edinburgh Council and by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

It provides a physical and online space and community for those wanting to explore, discover, create and develop ideas for digital greentech products.

 

CodeClan

In August 2023, Digital Skills Academy, CodeClan, went into liquidation. Following a thorough and diligent evaluation of the options presented, the liquidators accepted a bid from CodeBase, to acquire CodeClan assets. Together with the Scottish Government and immense support from across the ecosystem, CodeBase has focussed in the first instance on supporting the staff and students affected, with a view to then leading a collaborative cross-ecosystem effort to rebuild a sustainable and suitable mechanism that serves the strategic tech talent pipeline needs outlined in the STER.

Creative Bridge

Creative industries accelerator programme funded via Creative Informatics, introducing creative individuals and organisations to tech startup best practice.

CodeBase Bridge

CodeBase Bridge: Playbooks for Building Startups was a course for Postgraduate students at the University of Edinburgh, funded by the Edinburgh Futures Institute.

 

EnergyTech Bridge

EnergyTech Bridge was a 12-month virtual programme offering modular learning, corporate mentorship, community building and collaboration opportunities within the energy sector, delivered in n partnership with Barclays Eagle Labs and Opportunity North East (ONE).

 

Tech Startup Fundamentals & Next Steps

Programmes for early-stage tech startups including education, expert advice and mentoring, delivered in collaboration with Opportunity North East (ONE) and supported by the Scottish Government’s North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund (NEERSF).
